Get your calendars out and start blocking dates. 2015 has been a great year so far, but 2016 promises to be even better. Marvel and DC step out of comic books and battle for the silver screen.

Here are five of the hottest action/adventure/fantasy movies coming out in 2016.

Deadpool (Release date: 12 February 2016)

    Deadpool

Special Forces soldier Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) is subject to a top-secret experiment which gives him the power to heal at incredible
speeds. (Sounds a bit like Wolverine? Well, it makes sense since he’s from the same Marvel Universe). Starring alongside Reynolds is smoking hot MMA-fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano, who plays the role of Angel Dust – a femme fatale mutant who can increase her adrenaline, gaining superhuman strength for short periods of time.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (Release date: 25 March 2016)

    Batman V Superman
DC Comics makes its worlds collide as Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, Aquaman, and arch-villain Lex Luthor come together in an all-out adrenaline pumper.

Captain America: Civil War (Release date: 6 May 2016)

    Captain America -- Civil War
The Avengers cause an international incident when their actions result in the mistaken killing of civilians. The government tries to control the team, who begin to war amongst themselves. But they are also left with the responsibility of training a new generation of superheroes, all in need of guidance. Can they put their differences
aside and save Earth once again?

Suicide Squad (Release date: 5 August 2016) –

    Suicide Squad
DC Comics breaks the norms of superhero movies by banding together a group of super villains to form ‘Task Force X’ or the ‘Suicide Squad’. This team of anti-heroes become covert operatives for a secret government agency. Look out for both Will Smith and Ben Affleck doing their fair share of ass-whooping.

Dr. Strange (Release date: 4 November 2016) –

    Dr. Strange
Marvel’s arrogant neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Vincent (a.k.a. Dr. Strange) tries to save humankind after being trained by Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme.
Dr. Strange will be played by Benedict Cumberbatch (from Star Trek: Into Darkness, and The Imitation Game).
